The Lord gave me the LOVE concept back in February of 2021:
Looking back is an interesting action. It can show us how far we have come and how we have been blessed. It can remind us of a past season that was favorable. Contrarily, it can leave us wishing we would have done things differently. We can use the past to gain perspective of time and learn to be more patient. We can see the value in being kind to ourselves and others from the mercy and grace we have received. The past can do any of this. Though it is important to understand that gaining anything from it is not automatic. The opportunity exists to use it for good, regret or not at all. This is a choice.
Observing the present and living in the moment is a gift we should unwrap and enjoy. If we open our eyes and hearts, there is so much to experience. Being present provides a deep appreciation of what we do have as we realize we can only experience what we are blessed with. When we count our blessings, we are actively appreciating the expressions of love that have been extended to us. The present is also redemption of our past. Everything we have ever experienced has led us to our current perspective and given us the access to our current wisdom. This should give us the ability to celebrate and make amends with the past. We should realize the present is also a cumulative gift that gets better with every moment. And, every moment is an opportunity given to each of us to do what we are purposed to do. We can use these gifts or not. This is a choice.
Visions of the future give us a reason to always be hopeful for what is possible and expectation for what can be. They are necessary to keep us moving forward. Life is set in motion, this is why time doesn’t stand still. We do not know what lies ahead. But, how our lives continue to unfold is based upon our focus. The key is we have to believe to see! What we see, with our eyes and our hearts, is what we become and achieve. This ties the importance of every moment of our lives. Nothing is wasted unless we choose not to use it. We have to decide who or what we look to. This is a choice.
Each time in our lives, past, present and future, has a purpose and forms a continuum. The patience, kindness and hope we experience throughout allow us to endure; this is love (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). We choose whether or not to receive it and to what degree. God is love and He has expressed His eternal love for us by sending us Jesus (1 John 4:8-9 NLT). Let’s choose to let every aspect of our lives show us we are loved! How deeply we each experience life is a choice that will determine how fully we experience God’s love, self love and love for others. I encourage you to go deep! Do all God has purposed you to do! That’s the greatest gift we can give in return to express our love and appreciation. A life well-lived is a life well-loved.
Over these past three years, as I have chosen to put LOVE into practice, it has allowed me to surrender to God and let Him develop me into the person He designed me to be.
Looking back, I can see He had me live the Blueprint to Authentic Existence® to be certain that He is faithful to perform the good work He began within me until Jesus returns (Philippians 1:6). Being able to truly accept the gift of salvation allows the unique expression of Christ to come to fruition in me as God planned long ago - not like someone else told me it should look; this brings much glory and praise to Him (Philippians 1:11).
Observing the present, I believe by faith what God has spoken to me with sensitivity: I can have joy in any situation if I truly believe He is working all things for my good. I know I am fearfully and wonderfully made. It is the difference in me that I shall celebrate and embrace. He has put me here for a reason. He confirms to me what He has spoken to my heart (Hebrews 11:1).
Visualizing through the eyes of my heart, I can see what He is doing through me and this platform of Authentic Existence®! I will have a worldwide impact on people finding freedom in Christ! I will improve race relations! I will influence this and future generations to use their gifts and talents to serve God!
Each time in my life is important as I have been chosen to produce lasting fruit, in Jesus' Name; this is only possible through love (John 15:9-17).
Looking back at my family history, educational and work experiences; Observing the current division of the country; and Visualizing a Word God gave me that I will see blacks free in this country in my lifetime; Each time in my life has been positioning me for such a time as this. God has told me it's the right time to put it all together to build upon my Kingdom citizenship - developed through Authentic Existence® - to positively impact the citizenship of the nation. The Lord's prayer is that God's Will be done on Earth, as it is in Heaven (Matthew 6:10).
The Lord has shown me the importance of choosing to LOVE as His ambassador. "For God says, "At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you." Indeed, the "right time" is now. Today is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2 NLT).
So I will answer His call and today launch "Choose to LOVE 2024." This divine initiative will educate people of their voting rights, an important aspect of civil rights.

Authentic Existence® Affirmation: I am God's ambassador.
Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing me to lead many to righteousness through Authentic Existence®. I praise You from the sincerity of my heart for the outreach to produce much fruit, creating everything I do for You - the Creator, through this initiative of "Choose to LOVE 2024." I believe what You said - that I will see the freedom of blacks in this country in my lifetime. This requires divine healing through LOVE. But faith without works is dead! So may I use my gifts, talents, and experience for all to believe their complexity is not limited by their complexion! I ask these things in Jesus' mighty Name, Amen!
]]>Do you really know what a fruit is? A fruit is the mature and ripened ovary of a flower. Familiar trees like oaks are actually flowering plants with acorns being the dry fruits they produce. Red, ripe, juicy strawberries are dry fruits as well because the specks on the outside are the parts of the flower that produce the fleshy, edible portion. Some produce that are called vegetables - like peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes - are actually fleshy fruits! (Source: Frontiers for Young Minds)
This information regarding what a fruit really is came from a website for kids! It is great that children are learning the true identity of fruit. But it also raises a point of interest - how many adults know this information?
This example of the true definition of fruit is a great one. It shows what we say places a label on that which we are describing - whether it be a person, place or thing - that may not be accurate.
If we only say what society tells us, we can be greatly misinformed and negatively impact the identity of the recipient of our words by imposing self-limiting beliefs, whether we intend to or not. This is the importance of knowing the Word - Jesus Christ (John 1:1-5)!
Jesus Himself has prayed to God for us: "Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth" (John 17:17 NLT).
There has been a misconception regarding what it is to be holy. To be holy is set apart for God's purpose (Colossians 3), not patterning after the world (Romans 12:1-2). It is a false narrative to equate being holy with perfectionism.
Understand this, in Christ alone we are made right with God - by believing in our hearts God raised Jesus from the dead and openly declaring our faith that Jesus is Lord with our mouths (Romans 10:9-10).
"God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God's masterpiece. He created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago" (Ephesians 2:8-10).
What has been spoken to us that is not in line with God's Word can distort our ability to see our true identity in Christ. But the truth is we are His masterpieces; by knowing the Word, we are able to affirm this truth to ourselves. This will equip us to go into the world and make disciples of all the nations as Jesus commissioned us (Matthew 28:16-20) and prayed for us to be able to do (John 17:18-25).
Through our salvation, we have the new covenant that gives us the ability to see how we are made more and more like Jesus as we turn from the world and draw nearer to Him, freeing us from what has been said from the hardened hearts of people (2 Corinthians 3:7-18).
As we turn from the world and draw nearer to Jesus, we become like little children - humble enough to be great in the Kingdom (Matthew 18:1-4); we recognize God's forgiveness of our sins has made us innocent. In our rebirth, we are able to stop evaluating others from a human point of view (2 Corinthians 5:14-17).
As we grow in our faith, we become mature enough to forgive others for the wrong things they have said and its impact on us so we have the ability to reconcile them back to God; we are able to be Christ's ambassadors for God to make His appeal through us. “…We speak for Christ when we plead, "Come back to God.” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ" (2 Corinthians 5:18-21 NLT).
As we grow up in Christ, we can truly accept this gift of salvation and allow His unique expression of Himself through us come to fruition as He planned long ago - not like how someone else told us it should look. We are not ashamed to share our testimonies to spread the message of the Good News (Romans 10:11-17). We overcome the accusations against us by the blood of Jesus and the power of our testimonies (Revelation 12:11)!
Jesus said, "Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father" (John 15:5-8 NLT).
Is what you believe what God told you? It will be evident in what you produce. Stay connected to Jesus to recognize how God wants to produce uniquely through YOU!
Authentic Existence® Affirmation: I am the righteousness of God!
Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing us as Your children, calling us to produce in Your Kingdom the way You planned it to look and be! Thank You Jesus for praying for us, helping us to see who God designed us to be, for us to live our Authentic Existence®. May we be answers to Your prayer, understanding the truth by God's Word that we are holy and created to do His work in the world, in our own unique way! In Jesus' Name, Amen! So be it!

Labor Day is a federal holiday set aside for observing the contributions of the American worker (US Department of Labor). Personally, the time is more focused on celebrating my son whose birthday falls during Labor Day Weekend. His birth was quite memorable, going from labor to delivery in less than five hours! They referred to him as the "Fast Baby" at the hospital. Well-dilated upon my arrival, I was unable to receive any medicine to help with the pain; thus, it was short-lived, yet excruciating.
My daughter's birth seventeen months earlier was quite the opposite, though again had a storyline that could have been in a movie script. I was home alone when my water broke, so there was some anxiety in the beginning. But, there was plenty of time for my husband to get home from work and take me to the hospital as she didn't arrive for almost fourteen hours later! The medication did not mask the pain! It was a long, hard labor and delivery.
The birthing experiences - and pregnancies leading up to them - though unique had a somewhat predictable sequence. I had a general idea of what to expect along the way from the well-documented information available of the development of a human baby. An ultrasound provided a high-probability of the gender of each child before birth. And, their delivery dates were reasonably estimated.
Though excited to be a mom to my children, at times I was miserable with the aches and uncomfortableness that came along with me being pregnant. But, alternatives to giving birth were not what I desired. So, the markers along the way until I could meet my babies face-to-face kept me encouraged.
I'm currently working a project that the Lord predestined for me to do (Ephesians 1:11) before He knit me together in my mother's womb (Psalm 139:13-16). I've been laboring in this work for many years. I'm excited to share it with the world, though the process has been extremely difficult. There is no alternative - I am committed to producing what God has planted inside of me. At times I wish to just be done already. But, the Lord will make it happen at the right time (Isaiah 60:22). There is no predictability for this birth, causing me to develop the faith needed to persevere.
I believe what He has spoken to me that it will lead many to righteousness! I believe His promise that it will lead many to freedom through Christ, help with race relations - making the United States live up to its name - and produce more workers for His Kingdom.
My time of harvest is coming; I will reap what I sow if I don't give up (Galatians 6:7-9)! Though I get weary, I have the greatest help with Jesus (Matthew 11:28-30). I will labor day after day. For the contribution of my work in God's Kingdom serves an eternal purpose. The birthing of God's gift to the world through me will be worth celebrating forever. So, I will continue to work willingly for the Lord (Colossians 3:23-24).
What has God planted in YOU that you have been carrying? Be steadfast and immovable; your work for the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58)!
Authentic Existence® Affirmation: I will birth what God has predestined me to do - my labor is not in vain!

Have you ever been gaslighted?
I did not really know what it was until I experienced it. The best way I can describe it is unexpectedly being burned. It was so confusing and hurtful primarily because I was not prepared to be put under fire. The fuel was doused, the matches lit, and next thing I knew, I was engulfed. I can't even remember everything clearly. I knew it was an attack though because God is a God of order (1 Corinthians 14:33).
My human instinct was to defend. But one thing I vividly recall was the Holy Spirit saying to me "let it burn!!!" During this encounter, I felt joy in "losing". No doubt, it stung and was frustrating. However, I saw the necessity of letting it all be exposed. I had to embrace failing against the measurers and their measurement. The bait of Satan is to bring on the spirit of offense.
There was one ally that I appreciated that attempted to quench the flames; others that I expected to do this only fanned them! But, I have to be able to stand alone in the assignment God has given me, believing He is always with me!
God has spoken directly to me: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV).
I do not need a Co-Signer to what God has promised me!
Jesus has paid my debt in full. I believe His message!
"The Lord is my light and my salvation - so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident" (Psalm 27:1-3 NLT).
I am already on fire for God by the power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, any fuel being poured on me can only further refine me to do what God has called me to do! On my journey, God will take me to places and spaces to use me as He sees fit. His process allows Him to break any strongholds of pride and empowers me to face rejection while continuing to love others throughout the mission He has for me.
I must stay connected to Jesus to have the wisdom in this struggle. I cannot do this without Him! Though being set apart can feel lonely at times, I can do what God has asked of me by His amazing grace.
"Teach me how to live, O Lord. Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me. Do not let me fall into their hands. For they accuse me of things I've never done; with every breath they threaten me with violence. Yet I am confident I will see the Lord's goodness while I am here in the land of the living" (Psalm 27:11-13 NLT).
God is disciplining me because He loves me. He wants to do new things through me to glorify Him and point others to Jesus. To do this, I must be unshakable, no matter what comes my way. He has a big assignment for me and I cannot tone down from who He has created me to be! I will only see opposition as giants if I view myself as small.
For me to bring forth my specific part in His plan, I have to follow His Word. It says to use my every day, ordinary life and place it before Him as an offering - my contribution with my gifts to His Kingdom.
I have to stay focused on Him to be successful as He - not the world - defines and sees it.
For the Word says: "'...Once again I shake not only the earth but the heavens also.' This means all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain. Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a devouring fire" (Hebrews 12:26-29 NLT).
You will have to go through some things - just you and God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit - to move forward when you are called to a purpose. Do you believe the message of Jesus Christ? If so, you are ready for the heat! Go!
Not everyone will understand your mission. Persecution should be expected. But "...God causes everything to work together for the good for those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them" (Romans 8:28 NLT).
"Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord" (Psalm 27:14 NLT).
"At the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen" (Isaiah 60:22 NLT).
Authentic Existence® Affirmation: I am on fire for God!
Heavenly Father, thank You for supplying all my needs! Help me to honor the commitments You have directed me to execute in accordance with Your will. Help me to be sensitive to Your voice. May that which You assign me to bring out the best of me and develop well-formed maturity in me.

]]>Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God's throne. -Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT
Finish!
This directive is both a verb and a noun. As a verb - an action word - it is defined as bringing an activity to an end; to complete; to reach the end of a race. As a noun - identifying a person, place, or thing - it is defined as the final stage of something; the manner in which the manufacture of an article is completed in detail.
Jesus finished His mission and gave up His Spirit (John 19:28-30), providing the only way for us to be saved. Though this Living Water freely flows, it comes at a tremendous price. We provide a return on this investment by choosing to receive it, watering the seeds that have been planted in each of us.
Staying connected to the True Vine nurtures us in our mission. There will be a breaking process to allow what God has planted in us to grow. Jesus provides for us to do all that God wants to do in and through us.
As the Living Water flows in and through us, we are able to remain fruitful, replenishing each other as the body of Christ and overflowing into the world to create more disciples. Jesus has commanded us to “…go and make disciples of all the nations…teach these new disciples to obey the commands I have given you…” (Matthew 28:19-20 NLT).
By pouring out our lives as an offering to God, we finish our race and remain faithful. For this, the Lord will give us our prize on the day of His return - a crown of righteousness (2 Timothy 4:6-8).
If we believe Jesus’ proclamation that “…It is finished!…” (John 19:30 NLT), we demonstrate our belief that He has saved us by coming into alignment with Him! We take action - we finish! “Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:9-10 NLT).
Through our action of finishing, we become finished. We serve as representatives of Christ as God designed us to be, boldly reflect the light of the “Son” in our own way! We live our Authentic Existence®️!
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day Christ Jesus returns” (Philippians 1:6 NLT).
“I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation - the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ - for this will bring much glory and praise to God” (Philippians 1:8-11 NLT).
Authentic Existence®️ Affirmation: I will finish!
Heavenly Father, I believe Jesus when He said “It is finished!” Please help me to put into action my belief so I may come into alignment with Him, reflecting what I believe, allowing my light to shine brightly as a Bold Full Moon™️! I pray that when others see my light and I have opportunities to be fruitful - by being a disciple and creating more disciples - I confidently, willingly and genuinely accept this work, so I may live my Authentic Existence®️, pointing others to Jesus and glorifying You in the unique way You designed me to! I ask these things in Jesus’ Name, Amen!
How are you approaching your promised victory? Is it apparent that you are in it to win it? Or is a win a win?
]]>
Spoiler Alert: We win! But, how we do it is an individual choice.
Have you ever seen an ugly win? The plays are sloppy. The execution is poor. At points, it may be painful to watch. Yet, somehow, victory is eked out.
On the other end of the spectrum is the enjoyment of observing a job well done. The colliding of talent and practice are on full display. Even the common spectator can conclude the win was inevitable.
A win is a win, right? That is for you to decide.
It is true that salvation alone gives us victory through our Lord, Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:57). By openly declaring Jesus is Lord and believing in our hearts God raised Him from the dead, we are saved (Romans 10:9). However, Jesus Himself has told us to go and make more disciples (Matthew 28:19). As Christ's ambassadors, God appeals to the world through us (2 Corinthians 5:20). What we do and say is to be done as representatives of the Lord (Colossians 3:17).
Our salvation provides the power of the Holy Spirit to live inside of us, so we may reflect love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. However, individually, we limit the fullness of God; operating alone, we are fragmented. We are not fully-functioning because we are not whole.
The Spirit has given each of us different spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4) to serve the Lord (1 Corinthians 12:5). Collectively we are the body of Christ; each of us plays a part (1 Corinthians 12:27). We can only be whole in harmony, giving strength and care to all parts (1 Corinthians 12:22-26). Together we demonstrate the grace of God that is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9). The fullness of God is revealed.
When you use your gifts to give to others and talents to add value to the Kingdom, you draw others to Christ. However, equally important, and sometimes overlooked, is allowing the gifts and talents of other believers to be poured back into you; your cup needs to be refilled to continue to pour. Prayers may be answered by God, in Jesus' Name, through the help of another.
This process of giving and receiving in the body of Christ is how unity is achieved as God intended. His glory comes to fruition, producing a bountiful harvest. Asking for help from the Church is essential to staying connected to the True Vine.
Jesus said, "Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions" (Matthew 7:20). Those who obey His call to work together -giving and receiving- (Ephesian 4:1-16) and put into practice His teachings will be like trees along the river, bearing much fruit, prospering in all they do (Psalm 1:2-3). The Lord will be full of praise. They can expect to hear "...Well done, my good and faithful servant..." (Matthew 25:21 NLT).
"To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away" (Matthew 25:29 NLT). Utilizing all the resources provided by our Source maximizes our effectiveness in the Kingdom; not using all that is available is not a good return on His investment. We want to do all that we can do. Jesus said, what we do for the least of His brothers and sisters, we do for Him (Matthew 25:40).
How are you approaching your promised victory?
Is it apparent that you are in it to win it?
Or is a win a win?
Authentic Existence® Affirmation: I will live my life for Christ, giving and receiving in a manner that shows I am in it to win it!
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Son, Jesus! May we stay connected to Him and serve our purpose well in the body of Christ, displaying the fruit of the Spirit and producing much fruit through disciples for Your Kingdom.
In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen!

]]>There are really only two options we face in life: Do it right...or don't do it at all! Which do you choose? Are you stuck because you don’t know what right is?
]]>
Momentum is defined by Merriam-Webster as the strength or force gained by motion or by a series of events. We will move in the direction of what we decide to do over and over again. And that force gets stronger and stronger in our lives.
"The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions” (Galatians 5:17 NLT).
There is truly a battle! We have to be prepared. God has provided us with His whole armor to be victorious through the Lord's strength over these enemies (Ephesians 6:10-18).
While we are aware of temptation from the aspect of our human desires that innately lure us to what feels good. "For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world" (1 John 2:16 NLT). Temptation is not always overt. It can be anything that deters us from following God's plan for us.
This is why it is important to listen to Jesus' teachings and put them into practice. In doing so, we develop a strong foundation to be able to stand strong against anything that attempts to tear down what has been built up in our lives (Matthew 7:24-27). We are even prepared for those quiet storms that aren't always easily recognizable, like paralyzing fear, that threaten to keep us from moving forward.
God has given us everything we need to do all that He has planned for us! "That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day" (2 Corinthians 4:16 NLT). And the Spirit that lives in us is greater than the spirit that lives in the world (1 John 4:4). By putting on our new nature, we are renewed as we learn to know God through Jesus and become like Him (Colossians 3:10). This allows the power of the Holy Spirit to be the driving force in our lives, continually strengthening us to do all that God asks us to do.
There are really only two options we face in life: Do it right...or don't do it at all!
The key is to know what right is. It is not perfection or never making mistakes; it is keeping the faith, no matter what comes to pass, allowing Jesus to be the perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Our daily decisions will determine the strength of our faith.
"We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty of our sins" (Romans 3:22-24 NLT).
Jesus is the Word (John 1:1-5). But we can't just listen to the Word; we have to do what it says. Otherwise we are only fooling ourselves (James 1:22). We become unable to have a rich and satisfying life; we give power to the thief to kill, steal and destroy what God has for us (John 10:10), unable to live as God designed. Unfortunately, when we choose this route of continually not putting the Word into practice, even if we know it, we will not execute our calling. By default, we eventually don't do it at all!
The Good News is every day is a new opportunity to choose to obey Jesus and take steps on God's path for us. He fills in the gap of the unknown - where we would stumble or even fall on our own - as the Rock of our Salvation, allowing us to reach all that God has for us and for no weapon formed against us to prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
Authentic Existence® Affirmation: I will do it right!
Heavenly Father, please help me with any unbelief, as a life without You is not a life worth living. May I keep the faith to do it right, so I may not fall into the trap of the enemy that prevents me from doing what You predestined for me. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen!

Our family celebrated my son's 15th birthday this past weekend. It started on a high note. The night before he made a tremendous play in his high school junior varsity football team's game to set them up to make a touchdown, and eventually win the game, after being down to the other team. He did not start in the game, but when his opportunity came, he was ready. He knew what to do.
He had prayed with us before the game. He had attended every practice to work out and learn how to execute the plays. And he watched film to understand the plays and know them by heart. He knew the rules to not be penalized or disqualified. When his number was called, he was spiritually, physically and mentally prepared to do the right things at the right time. What he continually practiced he was able to successfully execute.
To honor his birthday, I put together a short video of him over his young lifetime. While reviewing photos and past footage, I was reminded of how many years he's been playing football. He had executed this process of being ready over and over again the last decade; two-thirds of his life. Of course, there were times when he misread a play or fumbled the ball. He's broken rules and lost yardage. However, by continually studying the game and applying what he learned on the field, he gained greater knowledge and understanding of not just what to do, but how to do it right.
He took a short break due to the pandemic during his eight grade year; though he did not actively play, he came to the games to support his team. This gap did impact his playing time on the freshman football squad when he arrived at high school. So after that season, his father and I got him training to help him compete and get a better shot at getting on the field. And, each member of our family prepared a vision board to kick off 2022; he put having a more active role on his football team as part of what he wanted to accomplish. He remained committed to his goal.
Unfortunately, he developed appendicitis after contracting COVID and he again was sidelined for a stint. Yet, he continued to stay prayerful. From working out in the off season, his body recovered over a matter of weeks after surgery. And he kept his mind focused on the written vision that made his goal plain to him (Habakkuk 2:2); I reminded him he would get well and play in due time because God had given him that vision. Through his preparation and diligence, even when faced with adversity, he stayed faithful. In return, he reaped his reward at the appointed time.
Anyone who saw my son not playing that much during these last couple of years could have assumed he didn't prepare. But his team, coaches and everyone on that field last Thursday knows he did! They all erupted and celebrated his effort that kept them undefeated. And word has traveled beyond just those who were in attendance. He's received his due accolades. Me and his father are not surprised; we have encouraged him to just keep doing the right things and his opportunity will come.
Yes, football is just a game. And whether his team wins or loses in the larger scheme of things won't really matter. However, how he has developed his talent God has bestowed upon him does.
"If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won't be honest with greater responsibilities" (Luke 16:10 NLT).
God has given us the playbook and provided everything we need to be successful in all He calls us to do. For God so loved the world, He gave us Jesus (John 3:16) and it is through Jesus we have a rich and satisfying life (John 10:10). Jesus is the initiator and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) and it is our faith that makes us victorious (1 John 5:4). Jesus is the Word (John 1:1-5) and by studying the Word, meditating on it day and night, we get to know Him; He provides us the instructions to prosper.
Through our meditation, we learn the Word by heart, so we can obey it and not sin against God (Psalm 119:11). We grow to understand God lives in us (1 John 4:13), therefore we treat our bodies well as a living sacrifice and allow Him to transform our minds, changing the way we think (Romans 12:1-2). We become spiritually, physically and mentally fit for our divine assignments, equipped to put into practice what Jesus teaches us to do - the right things at the right time. "So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up" (Galatians 6:9 NLT).
This is how we live abundantly as God designed. "...As the Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has life"" (Romans 1:17 NLT). "What good is it dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don't show it by your actions... (James 2:14 NLT)?
What are you doing consistently? Whose instruction are you following?
"Don't be misled - you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant" (Galatians 6:7 NLT). What you do day and night will determine your outcome.
When God calls on you to use you, will you be ready to do what He asks? Will you do it right? He's given the winning strategy - the only way to victory - Jesus!
Do you know Jesus so you may succeed and prosper in all you do? I invite you to know Him better today!
Authentic Existence® Affirmation: I will meditate on the Word day and night, to be prepared to do all God asks me to do and do it right!
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Book of Instruction. May we study it day and night to know Jesus and succeed in all we do.
In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen.

I am hurting! This has been a tough year! I thought that August would yield a turn around - a time of new beginnings. But, today has resulted in yet another disappointment. I have cried and felt the all too familiar lump in my throat. Many deep sighs have been released in my exasperation.
But, each difficult day that passes shows me what gets produced from the Lord's power versus my willpower. Standing on the Rock has helped me weather the storm. His nurturing provides the only way for me to be healthy enough to move forward in my purpose.
Therefore, even though sometimes it is challenging and can hurt, I embrace His way. When I feel the burn, I do not give up. I am learning that as I endure this breaking process, my faith grows stronger. The more my way is released, the less I experience burn out.
"God's way is perfect. All the Lord's promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection" (2 Samuel 22:31 NLT). Thus, I will continue to let Him lead me. I trust Him and His process. He knows best. In my surrender, I find rest.
By resting in Him, I am strengthened, able to boldly walk through the doors He opens for me. No matter how I feel, I can be confident I'm exactly where I belong.
By choosing the plan God has predestined for me, though I may go through the fire, I won't smell like smoke (Daniel 3:27). I will receive beauty for these ashes (Isaiah 61:3). My faith will be purified like gold (1 Peter 1:6-7).
Are you feeling the burn? Whether it will shape you or break you is determined by where you seek protection.
I encourage you to rest in the shadow of the Almighty!
Authentic Existence® Affirmation: I will trust God's process as He refines me to be strong enough to boldly execute His purpose for my life.
Heavenly Father, thank You for supplying all our needs! Through Jesus, the Rock of our salvation, we have the firm foundation we need. May we seek His protection, enabling us to withstand anything we face. It is by this faith that we will be strengthened to serve our purpose.
In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen!

It is Independence Day in the United States. On the Fourth of July, we celebrate our freedom as a nation. There will be many backyard barbecues to commemorate the holiday, including the one my family will gather together for this afternoon.
Do you have an experience when you taste something good?
The Good News is there is a way to live abundantly (John 10:10) and have everlasting freedom - through Jesus Christ!
Jesus proclaimed "...I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty" (John 6:35 NLT). By choosing to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and staying connected to Him, we feed on the Bread of Life, which is the Word of God. Jesus is the Word! By remaining faithful to His teachings, we know the truth and the truth sets us free (John 8:32)!
This is important because we need the right source of energy to do all that God wants to do in and through us. Being consumed with the world will weigh and slow us down with disbelief and disobedience. The Bread of Life nourishes us to exercise our faith and execute God's divine assignments for us. Jesus focuses us on what is eternal and not temporary so we may live righteously (Matthew 6:33). "...It is through faith that a righteous person has life." (Romans 1:17 NLT).
Knowing Jesus provides what we need to press toward our heavenly prize (Philippians 3:13-14). He is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). Apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:4)!
"Taste and see that the Lord is good..." (Psalm 34:8 NLT). Pause, close your eyes and think of all that God has done in and through you because of your faith in Jesus. May this feed you to live in your purpose of pointing others to Jesus and glorifying God! Experience His goodness and let it be shown through your actions. But, even then, do not take the chance that it is obvious to others. Share your testimony! Faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17). Mmm...that is good! Remember, good is defined as serving as designed - not executing a list of do's and don'ts!
The Bread of Life sustains us, now and forever. So we can celebrate life and freedom, today and always! Spread the Word.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the Bread of Life, providing the nourishment we need to do all that You want to do in and through us. May You continue to fill us so we may keep our priorities focused on that which is eternal and not temporary.
Please feel free to share your testimony in the comments below.

On the days I have an intense workout, I have no issue with consuming a lot of water. As I use more energy and produce a significant amount of sweat, I crave for my thirst to be quenched. I need to be replenished.
Contrarily, on days I do not exercise, it can be difficult for me to drink the daily recommended amount of water. Water is essential to being healthy and to sustain life. And though I know these facts, it still sometimes seems so hard for me to simply drink enough on these days.
As my spiritual, physical, and mental fitness have continued to improve on my journey to live my Authentic Existence®, I recognized this challenge as an opportunity for God to continue to grow me. Every part of life is significant to the whole experience.
Physically, I needed a refresh. I introduced my palate to sparkling water in a variety of flavors. But, the game-changer has been adding ginger root and fresh lemon to my plain water. These additions make it so refreshing that I can easily drink a full pitcher of water and meet my daily requirement, whether I have exercised or not.
Mentally, by focusing on how to turn this challenge for good, I started to notice other ideas as well. For example, my friend on social media shared how she not only added ginger and lemon to her water, but mint and cucumber, too. By seeking solutions, they emerged.
God revealed to me the renewal I had in how I approached taking in more drinking water could be applied spiritually. I tended to ebb and flow in tapping into my access to the Living Water. When I decided to exercise my faith and I could feel and see what the Holy Spirit was doing in and through me, I had no issues tapping in more; not so much when circumstances sparked unbelief. I knew I could not live well with this inconsistency.
Access to the Living Water is one of many blessings I took for granted. Another being always having access to clean water in my home, with the rare exception of a water main break in the area where it is advised not to consume the water; these times give me a reminder of how fortunate I am.
This is not the circumstance for everyone around the world. Although water is plentiful, there are obstacles that keep some from readily being able to access clean water suitable for consumption.
In response to this, I studied the process of how clean water gets to me. While I simply turn on the faucet at the sink or push the lever on the fridge, the water is readily available because it has been stored after being cleaned and tested for purity at local water treatment plants. It is delivered to me from the piping system in the region and in my home. The source of this water comes from a water system consisting of a local river, lakes and streams.
Many of these water systems cover the Earth. There are open water systems that connect these various smaller bodies of water to the oceans and every ocean is interconnected. The majority of Earth is covered with water, displaying its importance.
As the account of creation in Genesis 1 states, in the beginning when God created the heavens and Earth, the Earth was formless and empty; darkness covered the deep waters and the Spirit of God hovered over the water surface. Then, on the third day, God spoke the formation of land. God provided land, but also maintained a plentiful amount of water.
The land that formed allowed for vegetation; the plants and the fruit produced are largely made of water. Similarly, the animals created are majority water. And we as humans are also mainly composed of water. Every living thing contains and needs water.
Reflecting on this divine design helps me grasp the significance of water for life. This helps me not take for granted the provision made for me to receive it. Spiritually, an even greater source of provision has been provided. As Jesus stated in John 4:14, it is through Him the Living Water has been made available, providing eternal life.
We must not forget all that Jesus' ultimate sacrifice entails for us to receive this Living Water. He took on our sins, though He lived a sinless life. He was crucified, died and rose on the third day by the power of the Holy Spirit that lives in us as believers! We decide how much we choose to access this Living Water. There should be no days off in exercising our faith.
God has called us to serve in His Kingdom. Our purpose is to glorify Him and point others to Jesus. We are seated in the heavenly realms with Christ, thus we have to stay connected to Heaven while here on Earth to accomplish this. This connection can only be made through Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. We bring God glory by reflecting Christ here on Earth. This is why being filled with the Living Water is important.
Though intended for all, the majority of those in the world have not yet received access to the Living Water because they are not yet saved. Allowing the Living Water to flow in and through us brings more people to Christ so they may receive the eternal life He freely gives. When we see things from this perspective, we should count our blessings and be motivated to take in the Living Water daily until we overflow!
Thank God for His faithfulness. He provides us with new mercies every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). So, if we have been operating partially empty, today is another opportunity to be filled!
Prayer has been extremely important for me to live this way as God has designed. However, I've learned I need additional ways to keep my thirst quenched. I have looked to God to help me to continually soak in the Spirit. He's shown me immersing myself in His creation helps me to see Him in everything. This positions me to recount all that He has done in my life, strengthening my faith to praise Him in advance for what He has put in my heart He will do.
May you be encouraged to be filled by the Living Water. You are an important part of God’s Plan, connected to providing this access that yields eternal life to the world. Overflow and fulfill your purpose!
Remember, everything is in place; God has made the provision. We have to decide to open up and allow the Living Water to flow.
Are you accessing the Living Water daily?
What will you implement to stay refreshed and renewed to live as God designed?
Authentic Existence® Affirmation:
I will allow the Living Water to flow in and through me daily to execute my important part of God's plan.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your provision for us to live well as You have designed, here on Earth and eternally in Heaven. Thank You, Jesus, for Your Sacrifice. Lord, help us stay refreshed and renewed, so we may never forget what our salvation provides and how we connect to Your plan. May we tap in to do our part, allowing the Living Water to flow freely through us to help reach everyone, everywhere.
In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen!

My physical weight has been a struggle in my life since childhood. I have done some extreme things in an attempt to lose and keep weight off. However, my compliance to diet and exercise plans never lasted based on just getting to a number on a scale or a certain dress size. It required a commitment to my health, instead of being motivated by pure vanity, for me to see sustainable results.
Similarly, I found myself carrying the weight of the world for many years from the sin of my disobedience to God’s plan for me. I allowed what people thought and expected of me to burden me. I fell into the trap of using the world’s standards to measure my progress in life.
This pushed me to a tipping point. I finally decided that I wanted to be set free, requiring me to commit to being healthy, not just physically, but spiritually and mentally as well. I had to do things differently to get different results.
I learned from my struggle with my physical weight that my daily decisions are key. In order to be who God designed me to be - and lose the weight of the world - I must have a healthy relationship with Jesus. There is only freedom in Christ!
Up until this point, I believed in Jesus as my Savior, but I only made Him a way. He had to be the only way in every aspect of my life to have the freedom I desired. This did not happen by me complying with following Him as a quick-fix attempt to appease my desired results. I instead made a lifelong commitment to believe what my salvation means - I am forgiven! I can be healed and whole!
To be free and live as God has designed for me, I have decided to follow Jesus every day for the rest of my life! This continually strengthens me, exercising my faith and keeping me well - mind, body and soul. By faith, I surrender all to what God wants to do in and through me!
Jesus is the only way to be in alignment with God’s purpose and plan for your life. After your initial faith decision of making Jesus your Lord and Savior, you have to decide to make the daily commitment to continue to follow Jesus wholeheartedly.
What in the world is weighing you down?
What do you need to release to make Jesus the only way in your life?
What are some practical ways you can stay committed to following Jesus daily?
Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
Authentic Existence® Affirmation:
I have decided to wholeheartedly follow Jesus, today and always!
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as the way to come to You! Help us develop our faith so we may stay committed to our decision to follow Him, supplying everything we need to live as You designed.
In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.

]]>Deuteronomy 8:6 NLT
Four years ago, at the beach of Siesta Key, Florida, I had a life-changing encounter. As I sat on the sand and looked out at the Gulf of Mexico, I experienced the greatness of God. I had a long cry as I made a decision to release my past and embrace the future. Life had gotten too heavy and this meant I was not resting in Him. The indescribable freedom I felt in this moment would serve as a call to remembrance for me on this new journey; when things felt too hard or burdensome, I would be reminded of His power and ever-present help. He will do everything He has said He will do. When I believe this, I can have peace that surpasses all understanding to do what He has called me to do.
Forty years past in my life before I started Authentic Existence®. God had shown me that I didn't completely fit in most places (nor should I try). He had urged me to be who He designed me to be as opposed to trying to adapt to my surroundings. Yet, my pride prevented me from abiding to His will, leaving me wondering through life on my own path - lost in the wilderness - longer than necessary. In His divine timing, I finally obeyed.
Four hundred years before I started Authentic Existence®, slavery began in America. Accepting my divine assignment intrigued me to learn more about my family's journey. There are still many unknowns, but the information I have found to date inspires me to embrace every part of the way God has made me. Knowledge is power. I realize there are deliberate attempts to keep this power stifled. But there is no stopping the power of the Holy Spirit!
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord's favor has come" (Luke 4:18-19 NLT).
It is time to open our eyes to all God wants to do in and through us! He paused the world for us to reset and see Him in everything! However, many are rejecting the new thing He wants to do, yearning for what is familiar. Yet, it is this familiarity that is keeping them blind!
Those close to us may also reject us when we finally allow God to do something new in us. They can’t see our gifts due to familiarity. Some of our greatest breakthroughs may not come from the aid of family and friends. But God will align divine relationships for us. When we are a blessing, we will be blessed. How He will bless us may be unfamiliar, but embrace it.
Don’t be afraid of what's to come based on past disappointments. Believe God's promise that He is working all things for our good. By faith, we do our best with the knowledge and wisdom God has giving us at any particular moment. Our best will change with time as we continue to grow in relationship with Him.
This time has been generations in the making and how we respond will affect our generation and the generations to come. By acting in obedience to God, He will provide. Through every challenge, every battle, every temptation, He’s got us and we will succeed according to His plan if we remember to obey.
Our obedience will determine how far we go. We must not be at the mercy of people’s opinions to define how well we are doing. If we have looked to God and He has directed our path, we are doing the right thing and will succeed in accordance to God's definition of success, not people's. People often strive get to the “top” and realize there was nothing there. Therefore, enjoy the journey He has set forth and do not chase anything!
Look to God. Praise, worship and obey Him. Then you will see and be ready to receive the new thing He has just for you! Father, Son and Holy Spirit - the Three in One - are waiting on you to accept the invitation to move fo(u)r·ward.
How are you going to respond?
Heavenly Father, thank You for who You are! Please open my eyes to Your greatness. Help me not miss what You want to do in my life and in all that You have created. May I not get comfortable in complacency, but find comfort in You. I believe You want to do a new thing and I submit to do my part! May I embrace this opportunity to reset, refocused completely on You, free to be how You designed me to be so I will accomplish all that You have called me to do! Through my obedience to You, I will succeed! In Jesus' Name, Amen

]]>The end of 2021 seems to have come so quickly. As we enter a new year, there is always so much promise of what the future holds. While we shouldn't dwell on the past, reflecting upon where we have been can aid us in where we are going to do what God has called us to do.
Though journaling and blogging, I'm able to reflect upon the messages that God has spoken to me over these last couple of years since the inception of Authentic Existence®.
In 2019, the theme was preparation. It's important to be ready to receive what God has for us. It may not happen when or how we want it, but it will happen. Move when God says move; wait when He says wait. Throughout the process, He will show us our growth if we look to Him to recognize it.
This transitioned well into the message of 2020 - to look to God for everything. We can see God in everything around us, showing us His nature and faithfulness. By trusting Him, we are able to surrender and believe what He says about us to do what He wants to do in and through us.
2021 has been focused on moving forward. He told me this would be the year of His favor and He truly has set me free (Luke 4; Isaiah 61). Only by getting ready to receive from Him and looking to Him to lead the way have I been able to let go of fear and keep the faith to experience so much growth this past year through Authentic Existence®.
My vision for 2022 is to be unlimited. Through Authentic Existence®, I see people all around the world finding freedom in Christ. I see improved race relations. I see the next generation turning away from the ways of the world to use their gifts and talents for Jesus. He will give me the desires of my heart (Psalm 37:4). By wholeheartedly trusting the Lord to direct my path (Proverbs 3:5-6), I am believing for Him to do infinitely more that what I can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20)!
Close your eyes and let the power of the Holy Spirit open the eyes of your heart! What does God want to do through you? Can you see it? Now capture it! It will be!
Have a Happy New Year! Many blessings in 2022 and always!
Heavenly Father, thank You for saving us through Jesus, giving us the power of the Holy Spirit to guide us in all that You want us to do. May we seek and obey You always to know and become more like You so we can completely trust You and Your plan for us. Give us the wisdom to look to You for what it is You would have us to do with the gifts and talents You have bestowed upon us. May we write the vision to make it plain as You have said in Your Word, positioning us to receive all that You have for us. May we always come to You in prayer and thanksgiving along the way. In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen

]]>By releasing what we expect and putting our faith in Jesus, God can accomplish more in our lives than we can ask or think.
]]>
Do you need to get out of your own way?
Unfortunately, some of us are placing stumbling blocks in our lives, obscuring our view of Jesus, based on what we think He expects of us. We fixate on our preconceived notions of what we should, or should not, do for God to bless us.
When we skew the Lord’s requirements of us, we are actually trying to have things work out as we expect them. We miss His ability to grant us tremendous favor and are unable to see this beautiful aspect of life!
The Lord requires us to do what is right, love mercy and walk humbly with God. We do this by honoring Jesus’ commandments to love God, ourselves and others; embracing compassion and forgiveness towards ourselves and others; and completely surrendering to Jesus. When we do things our way, we demonstrate pride and arrogance that we know better than Him.
By trusting God’s way, we gain the ability to view things from His vantage point. We gain Jesus’ strength to use perceived obstacles as stepping stones to elevate us. Giving it all to Jesus is the pathway to seeing the full glory of God.
By releasing what we expect and putting our faith in Jesus, God can accomplish more in our lives than we can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20)! And for this, we can be thankful!
There is so much God wants to do through you! Get out of your own way and finish this Fourth Quarter strong!
Heavenly Father, please help me undo my unwarranted thoughts of what You expect of me. Help me not to limit all that You want to do through and for me by unhinging me from my expectations. In this season of Thanksgiving and always, may I look to Jesus to experience the endless favor You have for me and be eternally grateful. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen!

]]>Proverbs 16:3 NLT
I am a sports mom! My husband, Ray, and I have given our kids the opportunity to try different ones to see what they like since they were young.
Our daughter, Sydney, experimented with soccer, but she didn’t stick with that. Over the years, softball, volleyball and basketball have emerged as her favorite sports. As a sophomore in high school, she’s narrowing in even more because the steep competition makes training, during and off season, required to be selected on teams and get playing time; this has to be balanced with school and other activities.
Our son, Raymond, enjoys basketball and competitively plays football and baseball most often. He is in his first year of high school and is also feeling the pinch of transitioning to a higher level of rivalry. He’s went from having an active role on his little league football team to a more limited one on his high school team; he and Sydney have both felt the effects this year from missing their sports seasons in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ray and I chose to keep the kids out of sports at the height of the pandemic. There was too great of risk to their health and safety. In hindsight, we would not have done anything differently. COVID-19 did not catch God by surprise and we believe His promise that He has great plans for them, even though they have experienced the pain of not playing as much recently as a result of our decision.
When they do play, we often record them to capture their successes. My voice is in almost every video because I am their biggest cheerleader publicly; Ray is more reserved than I am and has also coached the kids over the years, leaving my mouth to do most of the yelling and screaming for both of us from the stands. We also use the videos to show them how they can improve. We are honest critics privately. Our goal is to help them reach their full potential.
My family and friends have grown to know that I’m intensely focused at the kids’ games. I do not care how far ahead or down their team is, until there are all zeros on the game clock, anything can happen and I'm locked in the entire time! I’ve seen many surprising endings!
The fourth quarter -or final inning, set, period- of a game is critical. It is the time where decisions are made by each coach and player that can win or lose the game. The strength of the strategy and how well it is executed offers the best probability of success; strong preparation before the game increases the likelihood of victory. In order to win, if their opponent is in the lead, each player must give it all they’ve got to overcome the deficit; they cannot give up. If it’s neck and neck, they must believe they can win. And if they are ahead, they must finish strong and not take their lead for granted!
For many years, I thought I was just watching my kids play sports and being their fan. As I have grown in my relationship with the Lord, I realize He has used their games as opportunities for me to observe many life lessons from my view as a spectator in the stands. I’ve learned we do get choices of what we try our hand in, but ultimately we have to focus in where God has gifted and planned to use us. Even in our gift, there will be challenges, but no one and nothing can block what God has blessed. He will encourage us when we are operating well in our gift and correct us when we need to do better because He loves us and wants what’s best for us. How we prepare ourselves and then execute makes all the difference!
As a sports mom, I may be able to be a spectator. But in life, I must be a participant. God designed us all to have an active role in His Plan. As a member of the body of Christ, we each have a divine assignment to complete. Unlike competitive sports, He wants to use all of us, all the time. And the Good News is He has already promised us we will be victorious through Christ! In God's winning strategy, we have everything we need in Jesus! We must follow Him and let the Holy Spirit lead us, requiring us to trust Him. To trust Him, we must know Him through His Word. Then we can rest in His promises and be prepared to execute no matter what comes our way. We really have no reason not to let Him use us.
We are stepping into the fourth quarter of the year! Are you committed to completing what God has asked you to accomplish this year? Or, have you written off what He has called you to do until next year?
If the enemy's ploy to kill, steal and destroy your progress in your divine assignment these first nine months has stifled you, now is the time to renounce him and birth what God has put in you! Posture yourself to give all you have to the Lord and operate in His strength to overcome! If you’ve been battling and are close to accomplishing what God has put in your heart, believe you can do it with Jesus and keep executing! And if the year has been going well, finish strong! Do not get complacent!
I am making the commitment today to prayerfully plan out and begin executing all God wants to do through me in this fourth quarter! I want to be laser-focused and complete all He has for me in this season! Will you join me? Please let me know in the comments!

Heavenly Father, please help me execute all You want to do through me this year! May I take no moment You bless me with for granted. May I continue to strengthen my relationship with Jesus so I will follow Him on the path You have for me, enabling me to use my gift to glorify You. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen!
]]>One year ago today, on September 12, 2020, I obeyed an unusual request the Lord had of me. I did not understand why He wanted me to do what I did at the time, but I trusted Who asked me to do it. Today, as I announce the pre-order of the first book I have the honor and privilege to be a co-author in, ‘Centered in Christ: Steadfast & Immovable Devotional Volume 1’, I understand this seemingly bizarre act serves as divine confirmation; it assures me I am on the path He has for me!
The Lord is faithful. We can trust Him. We may not understand what He is doing when He is doing it, but really all we need to understand is it's part of His plan. He is working all things for our good for those of us who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). But, how much He is able to do through us is up to us, based on our relationship with Him. The more we know Him, the more we can trust Him and the more He can use us.
I’m grateful I did not miss this assurance I have from Him regarding this co-author opportunity because I didn’t understand His direction a year ago. I obeyed and I am glad I did. By faith I just had to understand it’s part of His plan for me! A plan that will prosper and not harm me; a plan that gives me hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11)!
Please watch the video to learn more about my ability to trust Him even when He is asking me to do something that seems strange to me.

It’s March 21, 3-21! I challenge you to count down today and start what God has put in your heart! You will be amazed how much you can accomplish once you finally just start. So, let go of fear, let go of doubt, live your Authentic Existence®, and be ready! I can’t wait to hear your testimonies in the near future!
Let’s go!!!

Anticipation and hope for the future give us motivation to move forward. "Finishing is better than starting..." (Ecclesiastes 7:8) But as that verse concludes, "...Patience is better than pride." We often live life in what I will call the "Milestone Mindset", focused on the next big thing. Is Christmas the last time you will think about Jesus until Easter? We had big plans for 2020. Did they work out how you expected?
2020 did not work out how I expected, but it was exactly what my life needed. It brought things into focus for me; it gave me 20/20 vision so to speak. The American Optometric Association deems 20/20 vision as "the clarity or sharpness of vision measured at a distance of 20 feet." They go on to explain, "having 20/20 vision does not necessarily mean you have perfect vision." My 20/20 vision has shown me clarity in my life will only be obtained by focusing on God, through reading the Bible, prayer in the name of Jesus Christ and meditation on the Word. In doing this, He shows me what I need to see, when I need to see it. Only His plan is the path that is perfect for me and I will complete it in His strength and timing if I let Him work in my life. I do not need to see more than what He has revealed to me to follow Him because of the trust that has been developed by me really knowing Him now! I thank Him for what He has done and what He will do. I am now ready for what lies ahead because I am yoked with Him.
I have been able to see so much this year that I would have missed without this clarity I have gained by focusing on Him and not doing things my own prideful way! I also saw more because I slowed down and didn't get ahead of Him! The more you believe in Him, the more you see! His ways are not our ways! (Isaiah 55:8) As you gain clarity, you will experience that what we "see" isn't always with just our eyes in the traditional sense, but also with the eyes of our heart (Ephesians 1:18). When John the Baptist and Jesus Christ were both in their mothers’ wombs, John the Baptist leaped at the presence of the Lord (Luke 1:41). Do you realize you are always in the presence of the Lord? How do you respond?
I absolutely wish you a Happy New Year! I pray that your heart keeps expecting great things because we serve an awesome God! And while the holidays and special events in life are meant to be enjoyed, having a "Milestone Mindset", living for only those big moments, will keep you from living a full life. Every moment is a gift and an opportunity to live our purpose to glorify God! He loved us so much that He sent His only Son to save us! Be prepared to accept what God wants to do in your life by surrendering your life to Him! Jesus Himself said "...I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." (John 10:10) Let's not just celebrate Jesus on Christmas and Easter. Let us celebrate Christ daily for His sacrifice and enjoy all that He has promised us, no matter the circumstance, here on Earth and into eternity! So, Happy Monday!!! "This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118:24)
]]>Our human-created calendars add in leap years to stay in sync with how the world God created works. In order to keep the calendar in line with the seasons, we have a year with 366 days, instead of 365 days, every 4 years; an extra day is added in February. When this fourth year falls on a year that ends in “00”, it must also be divisible by 400 for it to be deemed a leap year. Thus, to stay in alignment with God, we have to make adjustments.
2020 is a leap year. Due to the global pandemic, uprising against racial injustice and the divisiveness of the United States presidential election, most would agree it has been a challenging year. But, as Romans 5:3-6 NLT explains, “We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.”
This trial of difficulty in the 2020 leap year is a great opportunity for us to evaluate any adjustments we need to make in our lives to get in alignment with God! We can grow in a stronger relationship with Him by the grace of our salvation through Jesus Christ and the direction and comfort of the Holy Spirit! The Lord has impressed upon me to focus on the “leap” in leap year and the symbolism of a frog, because of a frog’s great ability to leap - to jump far from one place to another.
The frog can remind us to leave behind what is holding us back and to keep moving towards what God has promised us. In Exodus 8:1-15 NLT, frogs were one of the plagues used to get Pharoah to free the Israelites from bondage in Egypt; they experienced many miracles when they obeyed God and made it into the land God promised them. The frog can also remind us to jump over obstacles to fulfill our purpose; God’s ways will empower us not to get tripped up and to go further.
This 2020 leap year, let’s focus on God! We may not see what He is doing in this difficult season and this year may not look like any we would have asked for, but it may just be our time to leap to new levels and elevate higher in our purpose! With strengthened faith, we will have the ability to move away from our familiar circumstances that have held us back and not make the same slips we have in the past. The Holy Spirit will provide signs we are on the right path if we look to God and not our circumstances. This year is happening for a reason. He makes no mistakes!
I was trying so hard to be a "good" Christian, I was almost broken. I was trying to clean myself up to do what God called me to do to the point I was not being who God designed me to be. What I have learned this past year is the importance of knowing the Word of God. My belief system had been flawed because I was relying too heavily on the words of people. Though perspective from other Christians and the body of the church is important, nothing replaces you knowing the Word of God for yourself. And that is the beauty of our relationship with Jesus Christ, it’s personal! By knowing and meditating on the Word, I now know God's promises for me and my truth.
Christianity is a gift. To be a Christian, you do have to "...openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved." (Romans 10: 9-10 NLT) I had to remember Jesus' salvation alone made me clean. My "junk" is what He wants to use for me to be sensitive to those He wants me to reach. The more I let Him use me, the more I will reflect Him. So, my self-cleaning process would actually prohibit me from seeing God's fullness in my life! That's when I got my breakthrough! The Lord has pressed into me that I can't just change my behavior. I have to truly believe and trust Him, letting Him change my heart daily, for me to reflect His ways more and more. It is a process and will continue until Jesus returns.
Once I grasped this, I realized I don't have to "act" like a Christian; I do not have to perform nor conform to anything that is not God’s Word nor His voice through prayer. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. I simply am a Christian and reflect the fruit of the Spirit the more it ripens in my life. These ideas of being a "good" and not "fake" Christian should not be my focus because they are not based on God's Word! My focus is to be on God, through His Son, Jesus Christ, because I need Him, and only Him, to carry the title Christian.
I will honor Him by freely accepting His gift of salvation and surrendering to His Will for my life! Thank you Lord!

While we were not able to go on this extraordinary trip to Uganda, I did some reflection and realized some extraordinary things had happened right here at home during my ordinary routine during the time we were supposed to be there. First, I was able to share a cloth that I blessed at the Stone of Anointing in Jerusalem last year with a family member that is battling cancer. God has placed the story of the woman with the issue of blood in my heart for what that cloth represents. That woman knew by faith she would be healed if she could just touch the hem of Jesus’ garment. Although we know the power of the Holy Spirit lives in us, the cloth I shared is a representation of faith for that dunamis power to release its healing. The action of giving the cloth to my loved one seems ordinary, but how it was blessed and its representation is extraordinary!
Additionally, I was able to share a job opportunity with someone close to me. I simply texted them the job details and contact information to send their resume. The next day, during my time reading God’s Word, I received a text from the person that they got the job! I was literally reciting Psalm 118 out loud and completing the chapter (verse 29) that states “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever” when I received her text. This was amazing because I have been praying in my prayer closet for God to bless this person with financial provision. I got a clear example that when we pray to the Lord, He hears us. And, when we say His Words out loud and believe them, He will deliver. My seemingly ordinary action of texting led to God answering my prayer, providing financial provision as requested for this person…extraordinary!
During this same week, when we were supposed to be in Uganda, I participated in the weekly prayer call with the group that had prayed for our protection during the trip. Three of us had heard a word regarding Rosh Hashanah, which leads to Yom Kippur and Sukkot, all Jewish holidays. I personally had read Numbers 29 during Rosh Hashanah, not intentionally, but by the sequence God has me reading and studying His Word. We are Christians, not Jewish, so we do not celebrate these holidays. But, I realize when the Lord repeats something and aligns a message to come at a particular time to you, there is a meaning behind it. I began to pray for God to reveal the message to me! I prayed for several days, Thursday – Sunday, and nothing sparked. I literally said out loud on Monday, which was September 28, “I guess I’ll have to wait on what it meant” and I went to start work.
Less than an hour later, upon reading my emails, an ordinary work task, the words “His faithful love endures forever!” were in a Daily Spiritual Fitness newsletter I’m signed up for. Wow! This time it was a reference from 2 Chronicles 5:13. This passage was occurring during Sukkot, hence right after Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. All of my week’s events and repeating words were converging for God to relay a powerful message! But I knew not to force the meaning in my own wisdom and to wait on the wisdom of God. Through my surrender and letting God lead the way, a lesson reenforced from the Uganda trip plans, He brought it all together the next day when I woke up!
He spoke Rosh Hashanah to a group of Christians for us to reflect on what used to be required to be forgiven by the Lord. Rosh Hashanah begins a period of reflection prior to the forgiveness of sins on Yom Kippur. Then, Sukkot is observed to remember what God did for the Israelites in the wilderness when they left Egypt. Under the Old Covenant, during the time of Moses, there were very specific instructions and sacrifices that had to be made and repeated, year after year during these observances.
But, as Hebrews 9 and 10 explains, Jesus came and made a New Covenant to be the perfect sacrifice, once and for all, forgiving our sins forever. “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 NLT) He freely gave us salvation and eternal life as a gift, canceling the wage of sin, which is death. “His faithful love endures forever!”
The message God revealed to me from this past week’s encounters is this: we need to see the extraordinary in all the things God has done and continues to do for us and not take them for granted as ordinary! The gift of salvation is extraordinary! The ability to come to the Father through the Son because we simply confessed with our mouths Jesus is Lord and believed in our hearts God raised Him from the dead is extraordinary! Our ability to talk to God through prayer may seem like an ordinary routine, but that is extraordinary! And we get to come into the presence of God every single day, all day, whenever we choose! Compare that to what the Israelites had to do and repeat under the Old Covenant! God can and will do extraordinary things through us in Uganda, Jerusalem and right from our prayer closets, if we let Him use us, because He lives inside of us! We should constantly be amazed by all He does through us!
When we truly reflect on this, how immensely blessed we are through our salvation, we should want to obey God! Whether He wants us to go to Uganda during a pandemic, give someone something or simply send a text from our bedrooms, listen to God and follow His path! We can hear His voice by praying, reading and reciting the Word, meditating on it, and putting it into action! He has given us direct access to Him! We can’t let the ease of this access cloud our perspective of how extraordinary it is!
“His faithful love endures forever!” He has proven these words to be true. From creation, God has made provisions for us. He has revealed His ways, though we cannot fully comprehend them. And, in His perfect way, He gave His one and only Son to forgive us for our sins, allowing us to receive all that He has promised us! The more trusting we are with what He directs us to do, the greater the impact we will be able to make, wherever we are, because God is with us wherever we go! That is extraordinary! “His faithful love endures forever!” And because of this, I will never look at anything He does through me as ordinary again!
Be reminded that our God is extraordinary. Get the Centered in Christ: Steadfast and Immovable Devotional Volume I here!
]]>The darkness can make us feel uncertain because we cannot see what’s ahead. We have to rely on faith and not sight! How do we have faith in the darkness? “…We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28 NLT) Even when we cannot see it, we must believe that God is working all things for our good!
“Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.” ) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:35-39 NLT)
Reflect on all He has blessed you with to remember He is a way maker! Even when we don't see it, He is working! Even when we don't feel it, He is working! He never stops working! So, don’t let the darkness waver your faith, making you believe it’s the end. You may very well be at the beginning of your next miracle!
Walk by faith, not by sight!
I got chubby in the fifth grade and was teased about my weight. That experience led me to start dieting and exercising. I’ve been an unofficial practitioner of nutrition and exercise for several decades now due to my concern about my weight. Though it has resulted in me paying attention to my weight to keep it in check and maintain my health, my motivation to lose weight started as a response to the pain of being called fat as a kid.
Throughout the years, my weight has ebbed and flowed. Even when slim, I’ve always still had that mentality of a chubby kid from the emotional scars from being teased. To this day, I consistently weigh my food, track my calories, and workout. Although my waistline is not always where I want it to be, I am generally healthy.
I had my first mammogram this past week and the technician was complimenting my pectoral muscles during the exam; she said she could tell I workout! Though I liked her compliment and was flattered, I had to remind myself that I do not need approval from others about my body and weight. I have allowed what others think about my image to have an impact on me for too long. I am transforming to intentionally be more focused on what God says about me, all of me, than people! He has created me uniquely in His image!
From my experience, I can testify to this:
-What works for others, may not work for me! I have to love how God created me and do the work to figure out what works for my unique self.
-Lifestyle changes are required for sustainable results! Following fads will lead to yo-yoing.
-My physical state is connected to where I am mentally and spiritually! The mind, body and soul must all be healthy. I can look at pictures and see the highs and lows based on my appearance.
As I continue to mature, God has shown me the emphasis on my physical weight should not be my top priority. Losing and keeping off the weight of sin should be my goal to produce the best version of myself that God intended!
Based on God’s revelation in my life, these are the 8 Best Ways to Lose and Keep Off Weight, by focusing on stripping off the sin that is weighing down every area of our lives, resulting in physical, mental and spiritual fitness!
1. Decide to make a change! Jesus is the Only Way!
“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 NLT
“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” Romans 10:9-10 NLT
2. Drink your water! Jesus provides the Living Water!
“But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” John 4:14 NLT
3. Eat wisely! Jesus is the Bread of Life!
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life. Yes, I am the bread of life! Your ancestors ate manna in the wilderness, but they all died. Anyone who eats the bread from heaven, however, will never die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and this bread, which I will offer so the world may live, is my flesh.” John 6:47-51 NLT
4. Get rest! The Lord Jesus is a Refuge!
“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.” Psalm 91:1-2 NLT
“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.’” Matthew 11:28-30 NLT
5. Meditate! Jesus is the Word! Be enlightened by the Word!
“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” John 1:1-5 NLT
“Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.” Joshua 1:8 NLT
6. Be prepared for temptation! Stand strong on the Rock!
“Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!” Matthew 26:41 NLT
“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT
7. Ask for help! Jesus is the vine!
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!” John 15:5-7 NLT
8. Run your race! Keep your eye on Jesus to do what He has called you to do!
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.” Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT
“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 NLT
Change the Narrative
Let’s use these 8 ways to strip off the weight of sin to be able to remove physical, mental and spiritual weight forever! The more weight we strip off, the more we can endure in this race God has set before us!
“When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” Galatians 5:19-23 NLT
What gods are you running to, instead of God through His Son Jesus Christ, that are weighing you down? Promiscuous sex? Approval and praise from people? Over indulgence of food or alcohol? Drugs? Something else? Turn to God to lose the weight of enslaving and stifling sin!
Losing and keeping off weight can be hard alone! But, we are not alone! Remember, as Christians, we have the Holy Spirit, dunamis power, inside of us! The same power that raised Jesus from the dead! That’s a lot of strength, renewed daily when we seek Him!
Let’s commit to use these methods to lose the weight and keep it off, now and forever! In return, we gain the freedom to be our true selves! Unconditionally love the skin you are in every step of the way! In the name of Jesus, Amen!

Where We Are
The way our brains are designed, we are wired to negatively respond to images that we find negative. The source of that negativity can be real or perceived. Unfortunately, the widespread images of black people in America have been portrayed in ways to make blacks be collectively perceived negatively to others, particularly as threatening and inferior. The history of how blacks arrived in this country makes the path to how these labels were established easy to understand, even if they are generally untrue.
Additionally, these stereotypes have been perpetrated throughout generations, continuing the cycle of racial inequality. This does not mean there are not some black people that do things that may give some people credence to their opinions. It does means that the inherent general negative response to black people sets blacks up in the negative and not on neutral (equal) ground as individuals, impacting all areas of life. And, no matter what your opinion, no person is inferior to another person!
What God’s Word Says About All People
We must look at each other the way God looks at us! Here is God’s Word:
• We are all created in the image of God! “So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27 NLT
• We are all fearfully and wonderfully made! “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.” Psalm 139:13-14 NLT
God’s Word is the truth. “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 NLT
Are your thoughts contrary to God’s Word?
How to Move Forward
To achieve racial equality, we must make a concerted effort to change the perception of blacks in America. We all have to honor one another! Here is what Jesus has said, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40 NLT
The basic Golden Rule to treat others the way we want to be treated. This will require a literal changing of minds; not just what others think of black people, but also what we black people think of ourselves! The trauma has been so great for so long that we may have allowed these untruths to seep into our spirits.
What we each can do is the following:
• Pray for God’s help and direction. Praise God for what He has done in your life. This will remind you how big, great and powerful your God is. Ask Him to put upon your heart what He wants you to do as an individual and with the unique talents He has given to you to honor the other people He has created and commanded you to love. This problem is so significant that we will need the dunamis power of the Holy Spirit. We must believe we possess power that strong, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, within us and petition God through prayer so He may direct us on what we need to do to accomplish racial equality. He will makes ways that we cannot make without Him!
• Care, even if it’s not affecting you. Observe what is happening to people beyond you and your immediate family. During your prayer, ask God to direct you in your understanding; in His timing, He will help with this. Talk to friends different from you about their viewpoints for understanding, not to sell your opinion. If you don’t have friends different from you, this would be an opportune time of self-examination of why this is the case.
• Act with your talents. The only way to overcome racial injustice and achieve racial equality is with an abundance of love! You show that love by utilizing the talents and blessings God has given you for good. The steps above will guide you, as only God knows what’s best for us all to contribute in our own way. Some examples that came to my mind:
o Use your influence for good. There are a lot of you that are connected to people that make decisions, whether in business or Government. Stand up when biases are perpetuated. Silence is compliance.
o Invest in organizations established to make a difference in the area God has directed you. This can be your time, wisdom through mentorship, money, etc. If this pause due to COVID-19 teaches us anything, it should be that most things can stop in an instant. Invest your time wisely. Do all that God has asked you to do, not less.
o Stop making assumptions! Seek the truth! This will require you to interact with God and people different from you. If you are simply drawing conclusions from the media (especially if your sources consistently resonate with your opinion) and others like you, you may be exposing yourself to be part of the problem and not the solution.
Let’s Do This, God’s Way!
This will be a process! Unless God has a miracle in store to suddenly eradicate racial inequality, it will take time to reverse the course after centuries! We must be gracious with each other as we travel this path. Some people may not have acted in the past because they were fearful of doing something wrong in the process. We must educate each other in love!
I am hopeful we can do this, together, and pledge to do all that God has asked me to do. Will you join me?
]]>Back in December, I wrote about the Full Cold Moon. It was occurring at 12:12 A.M. EST on 12/12 and I thought that was pretty cool! For that moment, God gave me the verse Hebrews 12:12 NLT: “So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees." I didn’t fully understand why He was giving me that verse at the time, but He did put this takeaway in my heart then:
Isn't it amazing how God has beautifully aligned everything! All we have to do is follow His plan for us to fully see all the glory! Hebrews 12 discusses how God's discipline proves His love. If we strip away the sin that trips us up, by keeping our eye on Jesus, good awaits us.
Although I embraced that message, God’s kept the verse at the forefront of my mind. From my initial understanding, I wrote “Purposely Running Freely” and the words came to me rather quickly. It was at that time God was changing a behavior I’ve had all my life. I used to say that I didn’t have to agree with everything, but I had to understand why. God has shown me that I do not have to know why. I just need to look to Him, trust what He is doing and what He wants me to learn. This has shifted my focus to be on God and not my circumstances. During this quiet space, He’s led me to a deeper understanding.
Hebrews 12:12 is a turning point in the book of Hebrews, encouraging us to keep our energy high in following the Lord. It’s a call to endure God’s divine discipline to get to our peaceful harvest. Up until that verse in Hebrews, God has given me the following take aways:
• We know Jesus is God’s one and only Son because He testified about Him (see also John 5:31-40). God chose His Son to be the High Priest and to sit in the place of honor because He followed God’s commands. That is how we can get to a place of honor, by following God’s commands.
• We must remain firm and not drift away from what salvation through Jesus means. “So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.” Hebrews 2:1,18 NLT
• If we believe in God for all that He has done throughout the years of our lives, we will have rest in Him that gives peace beyond all understanding. The Israelites saw God’s miracles for 40 years in the wilderness, yet were still unbelieving, turning away from God. They were not able to enter His place of rest.
• Jesus has mercy and grace for us because He understands our weaknesses as He endured the same. He endured so much to die for us. Not embracing our salvation is like nailing Him to the cross again; “...by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross once again and holding him up to public shame.” Hebrews 6:6 NLT
• Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice to make us clean. His sacrifice was once and for all, unlike sacrificing before Him, that had to be repeated. We must endure in appreciation of this miraculous covenant giving us access to God’s Promises through His Son! “Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.” Hebrews 10:36 NLT
• Remember what the people of faith endured and received from God. “All these people earned a good reputation because of their faith, yet none of them received all that God had promised. For God had something better in mind for us, so that they would not reach perfection without us.” Hebrews 11:39-40 NLT
This leads us back to Hebrews 12:12 NLT, extending to include verse 13, “So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.”
How do we mark out a straight path to gain this strength?
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.” (Proverbs 3:5-8 NIV) Just as the way was cleared through the wilderness and a highway made straight in the wasteland for the Lord (Isaiah 40:3 NLT), He has made a way for us!
During this uncertain time of COVID-19, we can feel as though we are in the wilderness. But know, we are not abandoned! Keep your focus on God and your path will be made straight! We may not know where it is leading us, yet we can be certain it will lead to victory. “For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:19 NLT) God is doing a new thing! Let Him have His way!
The book of Hebrews concludes reaffirming the truth that God will never fail or abandon us. We can be confident that He is our helper, so we don’t have to fear. Our strength comes from Him. “Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name…may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.” Hebrews 13:15, 21 NLT
Let this time of pause allow you to enter God’s rest, so when He does this new thing, you are refreshed and ready to go even deeper with Him than ever before! So, take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees...boost your energy for what’s to come!
